LAW Seminars
Georgia Southern University has teamed up with labor law attorneys to bring you up-to-date, practical training on key HR-law issues. Complete your LAW (Legal Awareness in the Workplace) updates "one bite at a time" when you have the time and the need to know a particular topic. Human Resource professionals, supervisors, and other business leaders attend these 90-minute training seminars on the employment law issues of their choice. New topics run monthly either at the Coastal Georgia Center, Savannah or the Coastal Georgia Community College, Brunswick. Seminars are on Tuesdays unless noted below.
Each topic is conveniently scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you have a (Senior) Professional in Human Resources certification, each seminar provides 1.5 hours of PHR/SPHR recertification credit hours. The IRS recently launched what it calls a "national research program," which will randomly select and audit 6,000 employers over the next three years. The IRS will be looking at employers' compliance regarding the very grey area of worker classifications, fringe benefits, owner compensation and reimbursed expenses.
